Assembly & Test Technician

Salary: £37,000 - £40,000 per annum

Benefits: 28 days holiday plus bank holidays, pension plan

Role Purpose

Syntech Recruitment are partnered with a highly specialised critical manufacturing business, as part of their 2025 plans we are looking to add a highly specialised assembly & test technician, the successful applicant will be responsible for the meticulous assembly and integration of high-quality hardware and research products. This role involves developing procedures, performing rigorous testing, and continuously improving departmental processes to ensure our products meet the highest industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

Assemble precision research and development products and certified flight hardware.
Conduct advanced testing, including functional, electrical, vibration, shock, thermal vacuum (TVAC) & RF.
Develop and document detailed Manufacturing Assembly Procedures (MAPs) and Test Procedures.
Perform detailed inspections of machined parts using precision metrology equipment.
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality.
Participate in internal and customer reviews, effectively communicating project milestones.
Visit suppliers and subcontractors to monitor progress and ensure quality compliance when required. 

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

Essential

Strong background in precision assembly of high-value components.
Demonstrable experience with precision metrology equipment.
In-depth knowledge of assembly & testing processes, including:Functional testing

Electrical bonding and isolation

Vibration and shock testing

Thermal vacuum (TVAC) testing

Ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawings, including tolerances and material specifications.
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
Proven ability to write and implement assembly and test procedures.
Excellent problem-solving skills with a pragmatic and logical approach.
Flexible attitude towards working hours to meet project schedules (e.g., overtime or weekends).Desirable

Previous experience in the space sector or other highly regulated industries.
Apprenticeship or formal training in mechanical engineering.
Understanding of aerospace manufacturing processes and precision components.
