HSE Manager Job – Eastbourne, East Sussex UK
A leading manufacturing company is seeking a dedicated and experienced HSE Manager to join its Eastbourne Product Company. This role is integral to ensuring the safety, health, and environmental wellbeing of the site, while fostering a culture of sustainability and risk management.
The HSE Manager will oversee the implementation of the company’s comprehensive Risk Control Elements (RCE00-RCE28), lead and develop a skilled HSE team, and work closely with local management to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with ISO standards (45001, 14001, 9001). The role demands strong leadership and communication skills, as well as a proven track record in health and safety management, ideally within a manufacturing setting.
Key responsibilities for the HSE Manager job in Eastbourne, East Sussex
* Ensure that the SHE Management System set out in Risk Control Elements RCE00 through to RCE28 is effectively implemented at the Eastbourne site.
* Strengthen the Eastbourne Product Company SHE Team demonstrating strong leadership to ensure effective recruitment and selection, objective setting, and development for a multi-skilled SHE team.
* Identify the future talent pipeline including succession planning. Manage by coaching, mentoring and developing the team to solve ever more ambitious challenges.
* Work with local management to manage a long-term sustainable approach to the assessment of all risks, the recording of such risks and the swift introduction of measures to minimize such risks in safety, health and environmental matters, both preventative and protective while working towards an integrated SHEQ approach.
* Develop and provide training and awareness to affected employees/management.
Experience for the HSE Manager job:
* Diploma or NEBOSH Certificate in health and safety management and/or Environmental Diploma or Certificate or equivalent
* Must have at least 5 years SHE experience in a manufacturing organisation with awareness of the practical application of ISO 45001, ISO 14001 & ISO 9001 standards
* Able to demonstrate ability to improve process, write/re-write procedural documents and deliver training.
* Must be a good communicator and have excellent fluency in spoken and written English, must have a good grasp of Microsoft office applications. Ability to make decisions based on a knowledge of the business and an understanding of the business impact. Must be able to inspire and motivate the team and demonstrate strong influencing skills.
Qualifications HSE Manager job in Eastbourne, East Sussex:
* Diploma/NEBOSH Certificate in health and safety management, or equivalent in environmental management.
* Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar HSE role within a manufacturing environment.
* Strong knowledge of ISO standards, experience in process improvement, and the ability to lead and inspire a team.
This is a pivotal role, requiring occasional travel to UK, Europe, and potentially international locations. The successful candidate will be an assertive, motivated leader, ready to make a tangible impact on the safety and sustainability culture of the business.
