Year 1 Class Teacher - Maternity Cover
Location: Islington, London
Contract: Full-time (Monday to Friday), January/February 2025 - July 2025
Salary: M1 - UPS3 (Inner London Pay Scale)

SANZA Teaching Agency is excited to recruit for a Year 1 Class Teacher on behalf of a welcoming and supportive primary school located in the heart of Islington. This is an incredible opportunity for an experienced KS1 Primary Teacher to join a thriving school and make a meaningful impact on the academic and personal development of Year 1 pupils.

About the Role:

This is a full-time maternity leave contract beginning in January or February 2025 and running through to July 2025. You will take on the role of a Year 1 Teacher, responsible for planning and delivering an engaging and creative curriculum in line with the national framework. On occasion, you may be required to provide support within the EYFS, offering variety and the chance to expand your teaching experience.

This position is ideal for a confident and experienced KS1 Teacher who thrives in a collaborative and forward-thinking environment. The school is not accepting applications from ECTs (Early Career Teachers) for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

Teach and inspire a vibrant Year 1 class, fostering a love of learning and ensuring all pupils make excellent progress.
Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons that are engaging, differentiated, and aligned with the KS1 curriculum.
Use a variety of teaching strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners and ensure inclusion for all pupils.
Conduct assessments, track pupil progress, and provide regular feedback to parents and carers.
Contribute to the wider school community by participating in staff meetings, CPD sessions, and occasional school events.
Collaborate with the wider teaching team, especially the EYFS staff, when support is required in the early years setting.

What We're Looking For:

To be considered for this role, you should:

Hold UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
Have prior experience teaching in Key Stage 1 (KS1), ideally within Year 1.
Be a strong communicator, capable of building positive relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues.
Demonstrate a clear understanding of the national curriculum and the needs of young learners.
Be proactive, adaptable, and committed to delivering high-quality education.
