Electrical Engineer – Utility-Scale Battery Storage (BESS)

Location: Germany

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer specializing in utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to join a forward-thinking renewable energy company. In this role, you’ll lead the design, optimization, and integration of advanced storage systems that power the future of sustainable energy.

Key responsibilities:

Plan, design, and optimize utility-scale battery storage systems with a focus on lithium-ion and redox flow technologies.
Create electrical engineering concepts for grid connections, ensuring compliance with medium and high-voltage regulations.
Manage technical specifications, ensuring optimal capacity, efficiency, and lifespan of BESS systems.
Collaborate on grid connection certifications and ensure adherence to VDE AR-N 4110/4120 standards.
Develop innovative control strategies for load management and grid services.
Monitor system performance, analyze data, and implement improvements.
Support project development with technical documentation for financing and execution.
The ideal candidate will have:

A degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or a related field.
Proven experience in designing and optimizing battery storage systems exceeding 10 MW.
Expertise in VDE AR-N 4110/4120 and technical requirements for grid connections.
Knowledge of system integration and modelling tools such as MATLAB/Simulink.
Fluency in German (required) and English (preferred).
