Job Opportunity - Principal Accountant

Location: CV32 4AT
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Duration: 6+ months
Working Hours: Mon - Fri, 09:00 - 17:00, 37 hours per week
Pay Rate: £500 per day PAYE (inside IR35)

As a Principal Accountant, you will:

Ensure the Council's financial processes comply with legislative requirements and best practices.
Lead the preparation, monitoring, and reporting of budgets and final accounts.
Develop financial management systems to improve service delivery.
Provide expert financial advice to senior officers, Members, and committees.
Manage a team of finance professionals, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
Represent the Council with external auditors, government agencies, and key suppliers.Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Proficiency in computer-based financial management systems (e.g., General Ledger).
Deep understanding of legislative Codes of Practice for Local Government Finance.
Proven ability to create and manage complex spreadsheets.
Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret legislation and regulations.
