SEND Teaching Assistant - Secondary School, Lewisham

Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time, Long-term (Until the end of the academic year)
Location: Lewisham, London
Pay: Competitive, dependent on experience

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic and supportive team at a thriving Secondary School in Lewisham. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with a passion for supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and helping them thrive in a mainstream educational setting.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide tailored support for students with SEND in the classroom, helping them to access the curriculum and succeed academically.
Work closely with teachers to implement individual learning plans and strategies to support students' needs.
Offer emotional and behavioural support, encouraging positive attitudes and building confidence.
Assist with the delivery of specific interventions and learning resources.
Monitor and report on students' progress, working with staff to adapt strategies as necessary.
Help create an inclusive, nurturing, and safe learning environment for all students.
Support students during break times and with any personal care needs as required.
Liaise with parents and external professionals to ensure effective communication and support.

Requirements:

Experience: Previous experience working with children is essential. Experience in supporting students with SEND, especially in a secondary school setting, is a must.
DBS: A current Enhanced DBS on the Update Service is required.
Skills: Excellent communication skills, both with students and colleagues. Ability to adapt to different learning needs and support students with varying abilities.
Attitude: A positive, proactive, and patient approach with a genuine passion for supporting young people with SEND.
Qualifications: While not essential, qualifications in special educational needs or related fields are desirable.
