Job title: Quantity Surveyor

Contract: Permanent

Location of work: London and Essex

ProQS is recruiting for an Quantity Surveyor, to work on projects in London and Essex, and in the ProQS office in Colchester, Essex.

Purpose of the Role

The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for working in conjunction with the director and wider team to manage the commercial functions for a complex civil’s project. The successful candidate will maintain the highest professional standards and be highly skilled at managing both internal and external stakeholders. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate looking to further their career and help shape the strategy and direction of a growing business.

Key responsibilities

* Assisting the director in managing the commercial functions for their clients business and projects.

* Prepare estimates, cost plans, bills of quantities, and schedule of rates.

* Carry out valuations and payment duties.

* Assisting with accounting and with interim and final accounts.

* Undertake and maintain financial controls and consistently monitor costs against budget.

* Assisting with analysing project performance during the construction phase through to contract completion.

* Ensure compliance with the conditions of the contract, and legal and regulatory requirements.

Person specification

Essential

* Able to demonstrate significant and relevant prior experience as an QS, or equivalent, ideally within the construction/civils/rail sector.

* Experience in NEC contracts

* A self-starter with a progressive track record of exceeding business targets.

* Able to establish, grow and maintain successful business relationships across a range of stakeholders.

* Customer awareness, innovative, and capable of maximising value for all stakeholders.

* Good attention to detail and highly organised.

* A hard-working, flexible and enthusiastic team player with a “hands-on” attitude.

* Committed to delivering a first-class service to all stakeholders.

* A good understanding and use of IT and Microsoft Office.

Desirable

* Experience in NEC3 / JCT contracts.

* Chartered QS qualification or willingness to work towards gaining their chartered qualifications.

* Previous experience in formwork and reinforced concrete works.
