Description

Curriculum Leadership:

Develop and oversee the geography curriculum, ensuring it aligns with national standards.

Lead high-quality geography teaching across key stages.

Support and mentor geography teachers in professional development.
Lead departmental meetings and foster collaboration.
Address performance issues constructively.

Resource Management:

Manage the geography department's budget.
Ensure classrooms and resources (e.g., maps, field equipment, GIS software) are up-to-date and effective.

Assessment and Reporting:

Oversee consistent assessment practices across the department.
Analyze exam results and identify trends for intervention.

Fieldwork and Enrichment:

Plan and lead field trips to enhance experiential learning.
Encourage participation in geography competitions or clubs.

Whole-School Contribution:

Collaborate with other departments to integrate geography into interdisciplinary projects.
Support whole-school initiatives, such as sustainability campaigns.

Skills and Qualifications:

Essential:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a strong background in geography education.
Proven experience in teaching geography across key stages.
Leadership experience (e.g., as a second in department or similar role).
Strong knowledge of curriculum development and assessment.

Desirable:

Experience in managing fieldwork and using GIS tools.
A postgraduate qualification in education or geography.
