Health, Safety & Environmental Manager – New Build EFW

Excellent salary + bonus + benefits

MC Technical Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Health, Safety and Environmental Manager to join a brand-new Energy from Waste Power Station currently under construction in the West Midlands. Once operational this plant will process almost 400,000 tonnes of waste producing enough energy to power more than 95,000 homes. The HSE Manager will be responsible for all matters relating to environmental compliance, health and safety across the facility.

This is a great opportunity for someone to join a brand-new facility during the final phases of construction and take the plant through commissioning in to full commercial operation

As the HSE Manager you will be responsible for:

Managing the compliance of the Environmental Management System including conducting internal and external audits
Managing site Health and Safety and promoting a culture of safe working practices
Supporting the site management team with safe systems of work and permit to work system for safety across the facility
Investigating and reporting all site incidents and implementing any procedural improvements
Liaising with the site management team to discuss any potential breaches or risks to the plant
Ensure site compliance with all relevant industry standards and guidelines such as PSSR, LOLER, PUWER and COSHH
To be considered for this role you should have:

A relevant scientific or environmental related qualification at HNC level or above along with a NEBOSH diploma or similar or proven experience in H&S management
At least 4 years of experience in the waste management, energy from waste, power or heavy process industry in a relevant role e.g. HSE Advisor, H&S Engineer, QHSE specialist etc
Knowledge of CEMS and awareness of various ISO standards would be ideal – ISO9001, 14001 and 45001
Good understanding of CDM regulations, permit to work and safe systems of work
The ability to manage circa 50 contractors during plant shutdowns
