We are recruiting for an all-through SEN school catering to children and young adults aged 4 to 19 years with a range of severe and complex medical needs, including physical disabilities, profound learning difficulties, and sensory impairments. The school provides a nurturing, safe, and inclusive environment where every student is supported to reach their full potential.

Role Overview

As a SEN Student Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in helping our students thrive both academically and personally. You will provide 1:1 or small group support, ensuring their physical, emotional, and medical needs are met throughout the school day. You will work closely with teachers, therapists, and medical professionals to create a tailored support plan for each student, making a meaningful impact in their educational journey.

Key Responsibilities

Provide personal care, including feeding, toileting, and moving and handling where necessary
Assist students with severe and complex medical needs, working alongside healthcare professionals to administer medication and follow care plans
Support students in classroom activities, ensuring accessibility and inclusion in lessons
Help manage challenging behaviours, using positive behaviour support techniques
Encourage independence and social development, fostering a positive and supportive environment
Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with staff, parents, and external agencies

Requirements

It is essential that you have flexibility to be able to work full time if required
Previous experience working with children or young adults with SEN
A compassionate, patient, and positive attitude
The ability to remain calm and adaptable in challenging situations
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
A willingness to undertake further training, including medical care and moving and handling
Essential: An updated child & adult enhanced DBS
Desirable: Relevant qualifications such as NVQ Level 2/3 in Health and Social Care or equivalentInterested?
